History
Gracebound was founded from a simple belief: every person deserves dignity, compassion, and hope.
In 2018, Keith and Cristina Scott began a mobile outreach ministry serving individuals experiencing homelessness throughout Fresno. What started with visits to homeless encampments quickly grew into a ministry focused on building relationships and meeting immediate needs. Through regular outreach, they provided clothing, hygiene supplies, food bags, holiday meals, transportation assistance, prayer, Bible study, and compassionate support to individuals facing significant challenges.
As they spent time listening to the stories and needs of those living on the streets, one concern repeatedly emerged: access to basic hygiene services. The inability to shower and maintain personal hygiene often impacts health, self-esteem, employment opportunities, and overall well-being. Recognizing this need, Gracebound was established as a nonprofit organization to expand services and develop sustainable solutions that restore dignity and create pathways toward stability.
In 2019, with the support of their local church, pastor, youth department, and volunteers, Gracebound launched a community soup kitchen that provided hot meals, clothing, food bags, music programs, and spiritual encouragement. The program strengthened community connections and reinforced the organization’s commitment to serving vulnerable individuals and families through both practical assistance and compassionate care.
Since its founding, Gracebound has continued to grow in response to community needs. What began as a mobile outreach ministry has expanded to include a community thrift store, community center services, homeless outreach programs, an Access and Navigation Site, and the development of transitional housing initiatives designed to help individuals move toward long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
Gracebound works collaboratively with local churches, the City of Fresno, the County of Fresno, the Fresno Madera Continuum of Care, the Central California Food Bank, community service providers, and numerous nonprofit and faith-based organizations. These partnerships help strengthen the organization’s ability to connect individuals and families with essential resources, supportive services, housing opportunities, and pathways to hope.
Today, Gracebound remains committed to its founding mission of restoring dignity, building relationships, and serving those experiencing homelessness and hardship. We believe that lasting change begins with compassion, and that the blessings we receive are meant to be shared with those in need. Through collaboration, innovation, and community engagement, Gracebound continues working to create a stronger and more compassionate Fresno for all.
